Ian’s Update November 2017

So far this term we have made the most of the evenings before the clocks go back, getting the Beavers outside as much as possible. As leaders it is lovely to see the joy & excitement they experience whilst working on traditional skills such as building dens, campfires, and toasting marshmallows!

We have been also learning about keeping healthy and how our bodies respond to exercise.

We joined other Beavers from Northern Norwich District on a weekend trip to Holt Country Park and participated in bug hunts, orienteering, wildlife craft activities and a shelter building competition- winning the prize for the most watertight shelter! Some super observant Beavers even spotted some newts! These events are so much fun, superbly organised & open the eyes of Beaver Scouts to the greater membership of the movement beyond their immediate neighbourhood.

Our scouts have been working towards completion of their skills challenge badge and are undertaking a 6 week training programme for a Scout version of a triathlon to raise money for the scout group!

We also have 3 scouts who have applied to be part of the World Jamboree in USA 2019.

All 3 have made it through to the selection weekend, so good luck to them all.
