Ian’s Update September 2017

Beavers: 1st Taverham Sandy Colony

It was another enjoyable and busy term for the beavers. We had a great time when we visited Pets at Home and learnt how to care for animals. We had a visit to Taverham Mill where we found some fantastic items during our pond dipping.

The weather had been very kind to us on Monday evenings and we have managed to get outside most weeks doing things in the Scout grounds, such as cooking on camp fires and finally finishing off the term with our annual water fun evening where the Beavers had great fun doing activities and trying to soak the leaders!

The highlight of the term has been our camp which we did joint with 1st Drayton Beavers. This involved hiking from Drayton to the Taverham Scout HQ where we then had an afternoon of fun activities, which included the Beavers making pizzas on a camp fire and they also made their own dessert of Fruit Pirate boats; many thanks to Tesco in Drayton who generously supplied the fruit for these. Then we sang round the campfire and the Beavers enjoyed sleeping outside in the tents.

We are looking forward to lots of exciting activities in the new term and welcoming our new Beavers to the colony.

Taverham Scouts

By the time this goes to print the Scouts will have just got back from their annual week long summer camp at Gradbach Scout campsite in Derbyshire. They will have taken part in a wide range of adventurous activities, a Wild West theme day and will have spent a day at Alton Towers theme park. There will be a full report in the next newsletter.

Scouts starts back on Wednesday 6th September and we look forward to welcoming everyone back after their summer break ready for another term of fun and adventure.

James –  Scout Leader.
