This term the Beavers have been to the District Panto, visited St Edmunds church, had a visit from Paramedics to learn about Emergency Aid, developed lots of skills (including filtering water) and raised money for the Gambian Aid Through Education (GATE) charity.
The Beavers learned from visiting speaker Jane Moore, that the living conditions for children in the Gambia are dramatically different from their own (including NO X-BOX!!!!) We are very proud to report, that for the second year running, the Beavers raised sufficient money to sponsor a child to go to school for a whole year. They held a bring & buy sale during one of the meetings & spent their own pocket money on each other’s pre-loved toys, books and games.
We also had a proud leader moment, with a visitation from the District Commissioner, who presented Mussels with her Wood Badge which is an adult training award. Congratulations Sue Elmes!
April saw the annual St. George’s Day Parade in Norwich City Centre where members of
1st Taverham joined other members from groups in Northern Norwich District. St George, as well as the Patron Saint of England is also the Patron Saint of Scouting and the day gives a chance to celebrate success locally across Scouting.
