HQ Hire:

We currently have time available on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the day to hire the HQ for groups/meetings etc.  If you are looking for a regular home in Taverham and would like further details then please get in touch.

News from the Beaver Scouts:

It’s amazing what you can pack in to 24 hours on a Beaver sleepover even in the face of a thunderstorm!

In October we invested a new Assistant Leader (Sue Elmes as ‘Mussels’) played parachute and relay games, hiked over 2 miles (from Taverham to Horsford), did a road sign spotter trail en route, created boats out of natural materials and floated them on Thorpe Marriot pond. Once we arrived at Horsford, the Beavers designed their own signs, listened to stories, decorated cookies, created and trialled go karts out of recycled items, put up tents, popped planets and had space hopper relay races all in the theme of ‘Round and Around’! The only dampener was the arrival of torrential rain which put paid to the campfire!

14 Taverham Beavers (& 1 Cub) joined 10 Beavers from 1st Horsford & St Faiths and survived the night in their tents (indoors). They all went home tired but happy, armed with a camp blanket on which to sew the first of hopefully many camp badges.

Grateful thanks to Danny Draper (Griffin), Beaver Scout Leader at Horsford for having us, and to all the adults and Alex, our Young Leader, who helped make this such a super experience for everyone.

Arrival at Horsford- hoorah!

The following weekend I accompanied 6 of the 9 Beavers who achieved their Bronze Award at the Celebration of Scouting Achievement Awards Ceremony. This is the moment when all the commitment and hard work of the young people and their Leaders is celebrated by the District in front of a large audience of proud parents! Congratulations to all!

Finally, on behalf of all at 1st Taverham Scout Group may we wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and prosperous 2015.
