Firstly news from the youngest members of the group – the Beavers!
The Beavers in Sandy Colony have been very busy learning new skills and applying their Beaver Promise to everyday life. You may have seen them getting out and about having lots of fun, but also helping do their bit in our local community. Just before the Taverham Fayre, much fun was had on the playing field armed with litter pickers and plastic bags. Every scrap of litter was removed, even those hiding in the surrounding bushes!
Taverham Woodland volunteers also had 16 extra little helpers to plant spring bulbs in Ghost HIll woods and the Beavers were surprised to discover there be crocodiles lurking in the undergrowth!
They’ve also hiked along the Marriot’s Way, been on a Shipwrecked sleepover on the banks of the River Wensum and enjoyed participating in District and County Fun days.
We are proud to report that Jack Harley, Harry Wesson & Toby Thurston are the first Beavers to have achieved the top award for Beaver Scouts (the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award), since we took over leadership in February.
We thank all those parents who have helped us with our meetings, especially Jo Baldry & Mark Thurston, who are now fully invested members of the leadership team.

At the time of writing the annual firework display is about to take place and we will give a report on this and also Remembrance Sunday parade and the AGM in next month’s magazine.
We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and a big thanks once again to all those who have supported Scouting in Taverham.
